6th grade Social Studies:  We are currently studying India.  Ihe 6th graders get more of an insight from this chapter because of  the fact that my husband is from India and I have been able to insert personal experiences and knowledge they don’t get from books or the internet.  The children also come home with their names written in the Hindi alphabet.  After the study of India we will begin to study ancient China.

7th grade Social Studies:  The 7th grade is exploring early colonial America—more explicitly the Pilgrims and Puritans.  The class particularly enjoys the part about the Salem Witch Trials. 
An excellent website about the original colonies is: Colonial America. We will be next studying the events leading up to the American Revolution.

 

8th grade Social Studies:  We are currently studying western life: mining, cattle, cowboys, and Native Americans.  Included will be the Battle of the Little Bighorn.  An excellent website on Custer’s Last Stand is:George Armstrong Custer
