Action Alert: Contact Your Legislators to Support Increased Security Funding

The New Jersey Network of Catholic School Families has issued an Action Alert urging support for bill A4597 in the State Assembly. This bill is the companion bill to S3080 which passed unanimously in the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee yesterday. it would provide the Supplemental Appropriation of $11.3M to increase the Nonpublic School Security Program for this year. Please provide calls and e-mails of thanks to Assemblyman Gary Schaer for getting this bill posted in the Budget Committee and bypassing the Assembly Education Committee. Please also call/e-mail the other members of the Assembly Budget Committee to ask for their favorable vote on Thursday, December 6. Action Alert: Contact Your Legislators to Oppose Assisted Suicide

Human Life Action is joining with the New Jersey Catholic Conference to urge everyone to contact your State Legislators to stop A1504, the Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act. On Monday, October 29, 2018, the New Jersey General Assembly very likely will vote on the Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act (A1504). The bill would allow physicians to prescribe drugs to end the lives of terminally ill individuals considered to have six months to live.

Action Alert: Support S. 1922 - Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act

The Diocese of Metuchen Office of Respect for Life has issued an Action Alert urging support for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act which was passed the U.S. House of Representatives on October 3, 2017 and was introduced in the U.S. Senate as S. 1922 on October 5, 2017. Cardinal Dolan noted in his letter to Congress on October 17, 2017 that the “stories of children born earlier in pregnancy, as early as 20 weeks post-fertilization, are becoming more common.” Below is a video highlighting one such story:

A new study by University of California-Santa Barbara associate professor Michael Gottfried and doctoral student Jacob Kirksey shows the benefit of a Catholic school education.
