The Pumpkin Seed Counting Project
We have completed our interactive internet project.
We used our math skills to complete many interesting activities. We weighed and measured our pumpkin. We measured the height and circumference. We cut it open to see what it looked like inside. We scooped out the seeds! Then we scooped some more! There were a lot of seeds! Mrs. Maslowski’s class counted 337 seeds! Mrs. Bornstein’s class counted 447 seeds! We made books about our measurements and observations.
Mrs. Tschang helped us make a VoiceThread on the computer. We were able to record our voices and send them to other classrooms all over the world! We shared our project with students in Florida, New York, and as far away as New Zealand!
We enjoyed participating in this special internet project. We would like to thank Mrs. Tschang for all the help she gave us. We look forward to another special project in December!

Also, we will be learning how to talk to God through prayer.
Language Arts
We have now moved on to the second book of our reading series. The children are enjoying all the stories and improving their reading skills. We have completed a book report. Next, we will be reading and writing about Americans of long ago.
Math
We are now concentrating on writing word problems in our math journals. We continue to work on problem solving in both addition and subtraction.
Science
What will the weather be like today? The first graders are going to find out. We will be learning how the weather changes and charting the weather in our area. We will use the Internet to see what the weather is like in other parts of the country.
Social Studies
How did families live long ago? We will be comparing families of long ago and today to see how they are alike and different. We will be making a model of a family from the past and writing about how they lived.
