We are so excited to be participating in this year's Mock Student Election on Wednesday October 29th, 2008. All students from grades Kindergarten through 8th grade will get a chance to place their vote for the Presidential Candidate of their choice.A school family has generously donated "simulated voting booths" for the students to use in order to get the true feeling of an actual election process. We are participating with many other schools within New Jersey, as well as across the whole country, to have our voices heard as students in the United States of America. The students will be using ballots that were created by our middle school students right here in Computer Class!  STUDENT PROJECTS FOR OCTOBER
GRADE 8: All students began the year learning Computer terms and their definitions. This will be reinforced with a quiz sometime before the end of the first marking period in November. We then moved on to our Internet Safety Program where we utilized the Netsmartz Curriculum to dialogue about Cyber bullying and the Social Network sites that the students may be participating in at home. They were then required to earn their "Web License" by taking a quiz on all aspects of the Internet using The Internet Driver's License Tutorial.   Next we began our keyboarding program with new software called Keybo. This program was met with mixed reviews, as the students were so used to using Type to Learn since 3rd grade, it may take them awhile to get used to it!. We have started our first quarter project by learning about tables using Microsoft Word. We are very excited about designing an election ballot for the middle school students to use to vote during our Student Mock Election on Thursday, October 30th. The students with the best designed and informative ballot, will be the ones we use for our election day.
